The constitution of Pakistan guarantees that all citizens are equal before the law and no discrimination is allowed on the basis of sex, cast or creed yet the women are mostly marginalized to take an active part in the political process in the country particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The 2010 flooding has brought destruction and misery to the people of Pakistan at an unprecedented scale. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was already economically poor as compared to other provinces and struggling to grapple with the issue of terrorism, faced the first onslaught of flooding.
