Relief Project for the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of Bajour and Swat and Bunair

Location:

17 Union Councils of District Mardan

Objectives:

  •  To support the internally displaced people and to assist them in mitigating their missies
  •  To motivate local communities to actively support the IDP’s
  •  To register the IDP’s and share the data with resourceful organizations
  •  To make arrangement for meeting the shelter, food and health related needs to affected communities

Activities:

  •  Registration of IDP’s
  •  Sharing data with other organizations
  •  Meetings with local communities and motivating them to support IDP’s
  •  Fund raising for the affected communities
  •  Making arrangement for shelter of IDP’s
  •  Making arrangements for their food needs
  •  Health and hygiene session with the affected population

Outputs:

  •  Registered over 17000 internally displaced families of Bajawar and Swat
  •  Motivated local communities to provide them with food and shelter
  •  The data was shared with other organizations
  •  In turn the national organization provided relief estimated to be worth Rs.170 million through bank cheques
  •  Free medical services and medicines were provided to over 100,000 individuals
  •  The local communities took care of the food requirements of IDP’s for almost two months
  •  Provided regular ambulance service to these needy people for a period of three months

November 2008 to September 2009

Local communities of district Mardan, Mercy Corps, Government of Punjab, Home Office UK, Layton Rahmatoola Benevolent Trust and philanthropists
